Cline Family YMCA, Beckly, West Virginina
The Cline Family YMCA is planned to be the marquee facility of Beckly, West Virginia. The project includes 5 bodies of water and 2 self-contained waterslides making this facility one of the largest in the area. The 6-lane x 25-yard competition lap pool constructed from PVC coated stainless steel pool technology, has starting platforms, state of the art timing system and entry steps with ADA access. Adjacent to the competition lap pool is the program lap pool. This pool, constructed with PVC laminated stainless steel technology, has 3 “warm” lap lanes, large entry steps with ADA access and is the perfect place for teaching swimming lessons, water fitness classes and providing a space for teams to warm-up cool down during meets/games. The program lap pool also houses water volleyball and water basketball systems for guest use when open swim is in session. Separated by a partial wall from the competition lap pool, the large activity pool is quite the spectacle. It is also constructed with PVC laminated pool technology and has a padded zero entry area with an interactive play feature, various floor sprays and large, custom, elevated play structure. The shallow portion of the pool leads to steps that provide entrance into the 213-foot-long current channel. The current channel has entry steps in 2 locations and winds beneath the 2 large waterslides that are the focal point of the pool area. The 21-foot-tall, self-contained waterslides have a custom tower that spans the current channel allowing guest with a unique view from above. There is a helical slide that allows for an exciting ride, and for the more adventurous guests, there is a speed slide that will take the guest’s breath away. Looking beyond the activity pool, guests see the deep water/ dive pool. This pool, also constructed with PVC laminated stainless steel technology, is 12’-6” deep and has a large, custom faux climbing wall and custom 3-meter faux rock jump rock. The pool also has custom waterfall features throughout giving the guests the experience of climbing in a natural setting. This amazing facility is complete with a large raised spa constructed with PVC laminated stainless steel technology. The all-tile spa has perimeter bench seating, multiple hydrotherapy jets, large entry steps and an ADA transfer wall system.
